Annual day. The 2023-24 edition took the theme Srinivasa Kalyana.
The shape of the year
The year opens with the investiture ceremony and closes with the valedictory.
Annual Day falls between December and March — a stretch the school describes as the crucial phase of a student’s year, because exams, results and Annual Day arrive together.
The Student Parliamentary Committee runs the investiture and much of what happens between.
National days and festivals
Independence Day, Republic Day and Gandhi Jayanti, plus Lohri, Janmashtami, Ganesh Chaturthi, Raksha Bandhan, Holi and Diwali.
Because students come from across several states, children spend the year celebrating festivals that are not their own. That is the actual mechanism behind the phrase “cultural diversity” — not a claim about it, but a calendar.
Ugadi
“The New Beginning”
Celebrating the Kannada New Year with 'Bevu-Bella', symbolising the acceptance of life's bitterness and sweetness with equanimity. The campus decorates with mango leaves and rangoli.
Ganesh Chaturthi
“The Remover of Obstacles”
A vibrant celebration where eco-friendly clay idols are installed. The school organises a procession and cultural programmes featuring traditional Dollu Kunitha beats.
Dasara (Nada Habba)
“The State Festival of Karnataka”
Reflecting the grandeur of Mysuru Dasara, our campus hosts a 'Gombe Habba' (Doll Festival). Students participate in classical dance and music recitals honouring the victory of good over evil.
Kannada Rajyotsava
“Pride of Karnataka”
The red and yellow flag flies high as we celebrate the formation of Karnataka. Students showcase the rich literary and historical heritage of the state through skits and songs.
Deepavali
“The Festival of Lights”
The entire campus is illuminated with earthen lamps (Diyas). We promote a 'Green Deepavali' (cracker-free) focusing on light, knowledge, and community bonding.
Makara Sankranti
“The Harvest Festival”
Celebrating the harvest with 'Ellu-Bella'. Students learn about agrarian culture, flying kites, and the scientific significance of the sun entering the Makara Rashi.
The National Heritage Room
A dedicated room on campus presenting national and local festivals year-round.
