INTER-HOUSE BOOK REVIEW PRESENTATION

OBJECTIVE

The Inter-House Book Review Presentation was organized to encourage students to develop a strong reading habit and express their understanding of books in a clear and confident manner. The activity provided students with an opportunity to introduce a book, summarize its content, discuss their favourite parts, and express their opinion on whether they would recommend the book to their peers.

The competition aimed to enhance students' reading comprehension, communication skills, analytical thinking, clarity of expression, presentation skills, and confidence. It also encouraged students to participate actively in inter-house activities and share their ideas independently.

JUDGING CRITERIA

The participants were evaluated out of 10 marks based on the following criteria:

• Understanding – 3 marks

• Clarity – 2 marks

• Analysis – 3 marks

• Presentation – 2 marks

The judging sheet reflected the students' understanding of the book, clarity in expressing their ideas, ability to analyse the content, and confidence in presenting their review.

PERFORMANCE HIGHLIGHTS

• Janusha S. S. of Tagore House secured the first position with an impressive score of 9/10, demonstrating excellent understanding, clarity, analysis, and presentation.

• Varunika R. of Tagore House secured the second position with 7/10, presenting a clear understanding of the selected book.

• Sanika B. N. of Gandhi House secured the third position with 6/10, showing good comprehension and analysis.

• Karthik Reddy of Tagore House secured the fourth position with 5/10, demonstrating sincere participation and a good understanding of the activity.

• The competition provided students with a valuable opportunity to share their reading experiences and develop confidence in presenting their ideas before others.

HOUSE-WISE PERFORMANCE

Tagore House demonstrated a strong performance by securing three of the four positions, including the first and second positions.

KEY OBSERVATIONS

The Book Review Presentation successfully encouraged students to move beyond simply reading a book and develop the ability to understand, analyse, and communicate what they had read. Students demonstrated their comprehension of the books and expressed their opinions through individual presentations.

The activity also helped students improve their public speaking, critical thinking, vocabulary, communication, and presentation skills. It encouraged them to listen carefully, organize their thoughts, and communicate their responses with greater confidence.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Through this activity, students were able to:

• Develop interest and appreciation for reading books.

• Improve reading comprehension and understanding.

• Express opinions and ideas clearly.

• Develop analytical and critical-thinking skills.

• Strengthen vocabulary and communication skills.

• Build confidence in presenting before an audience.

• Learn to organize information logically.

• Develop the ability to recommend and justify their choice of books.

CONCLUSION

The Inter-House Book Review Presentation was conducted successfully for students of Classes III to V. The event provided a meaningful platform for young readers to demonstrate their understanding of books and communicate their thoughts with confidence.

The performances reflected the students' growing abilities in reading comprehension, analysis, communication, and presentation. The school appreciates the efforts of all participating students, judges, teachers, and organizers for making the competition meaningful and enriching.

The event contributed significantly to the holistic development of students by nurturing reading habits, critical thinking, creativity, communication skills, confidence, and independent expression.
