OBJECTIVES

The Inter-House Chess and Carrom Competitions for Girls of Classes IX and X were organized to develop strategic and analytical thinking, concentration, observation, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities among the students. The competitions aimed to encourage patience, discipline, self-control, hand-eye coordination, precision, and confidence, while providing opportunities to experience healthy competition and perform under competitive pressure. The events also promoted sportsmanship, respect for opponents, inter-house participation, and house spirit, while identifying and encouraging students with an interest and ability in indoor games. Overall, the competitions encouraged students to maintain a healthy balance between academic development and physical and mental activities, contributing to their holistic development.

CHESS ACHIEVEMENT

Gandhi House emerged as the Chess Champion, with Haripriya C. T. of Class IX securing the first position.

Raman House secured the second position through Charvi M. S. of Class IX, while Vinobha House secured the third position through Chethana M. of Class IX. Tagore House secured the fourth position through Shivani B. of Class X.

The competition demonstrated the students' ability to think strategically, remain focused and make effective decisions under competitive conditions.

Based on the combined points from Chess and Carrom, Raman House secured the highest overall score of 17 points and emerged as the Overall Leading House.

CONCLUSION

The CBSE Inter-House Chess and Carrom Competitions for Girls of Classes IX and X, conducted on 22 August 2026, concluded successfully with enthusiastic participation and healthy competition among the four houses.

The competitions successfully achieved their objectives of developing strategic thinking, concentration, decision-making, precision, coordination, discipline, patience and sportsmanship. The events also provided students with valuable opportunities to perform under competitive pressure and develop confidence.

Gandhi House emerged as the Chess Champion, while Raman House emerged as the Carrom Champion. Based on the combined points from both events, Raman House secured the highest total of 17 points and emerged as the Overall Leading House.

The achievements of the students reflected their commitment, preparation, perseverance and competitive spirit. The competitions reinforced the importance of providing students with opportunities that support both mental development and sporting excellence.

The school appreciates the efforts of all participating students, House Masters, Sports Department, officials and organizers for their valuable contribution towards the successful conduct of the competitions.
