Event Report
The Inter-House Rhymes Singing Competition was conducted on 5 September 2026 for the young learners of Nursery, Lower Kindergarten (LKG), and Upper Kindergarten (UKG) at P.S.S.E.M.R. School. The competition was organized to encourage children to develop their language skills, musical abilities, pronunciation, rhythm, and confidence through the joyful activity of reciting and singing rhymes.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students representing the four houses—Gandhi, Raman, Tagore, and Vinobha. The young participants presented their rhymes with excitement and enthusiasm, demonstrating their ability to remember the words, maintain rhythm, express emotions, and perform confidently before an audience. Their cheerful voices and expressive presentations made the competition enjoyable and engaging.
The competition provided an excellent platform for children to explore their creativity, improve their speaking abilities, and develop an appreciation for music and language. Singing rhymes helps young learners become familiar with new words, sounds, and sentence patterns while strengthening their listening, memory, and pronunciation skills. The activity also encouraged students to overcome stage hesitation and participate confidently in school programmes.
The performances were evaluated by the judge, Ms. Nandini A. M., based on four prescribed criteria, with a maximum of 10 marks. These included Clarity (3 marks), Expression (2 marks), Voice Modulation (3 marks), and Presentation (2 marks). The participants were assessed on the clarity of their words, the emotions conveyed through their performances, their control and variation in voice, and their overall stage presentation.
